The Sound of Stillness: Kirtan Kriya + Yoga Nidra

Join us for a rejuvenating and relaxing Kirtan Kriya + Yoga Nidra class, and experience the sound of stillness

In celebration of Beltane, the midway point between Spring Equinox + Summer Solstice, this class combines the benefits of two incredibly powerful meditation practices to help you achieve deep relaxation, mental clarity and a sense of inner peace.

Kirtan Kriya is a form of meditation practised in Kundalini Yoga that involves the use of a specific mantra, mudra and visualisation technique. By repeating the mantra and performing the mudra while focusing on specific parts of the body practitioners of Kirtan Kriya experience a deep sense of relaxation and an increased sense of well-being. The mantra used represents the cycle of creation; from the infinite comes life and individual existence, from life comes death or change, from death comes the rebirth of consciousness and from rebirth comes the joy of the infinite through which compassion leads back to life. This mantra is a catalyst for change and will help you to consolidate the changes you desire to implement in your life.

The practice of Kirtan Kriya has been studied extensively and has been found to have numerous health benefits, from reducing stress and anxiety to improving cognitive function and promoting overall mental and physical health.

‘Kirtan Kriya will carry us through the Aquarian Age, even if all other teachings are lost.’ Yogi Bhajan

Yoga Nidra is an immensely powerful technique of deep relaxation, also known as ‘Yogic Sleep’, equivalent to 4 hours of deep sleep! As you rest comfortably in savasana, this systematic meditation takes you through the five layers of self, leaving you with a deep sense of wellbeing and wholeness. The goal of Yoga Nidra is to enter a state of conscious relaxation in which the mind is fully aware while the body is completely relaxed. You will be guided to awaken the senses and encouraged to stay aware, as you gradually relax deeper and deeper. As the body and mind become more relaxed you will enter a state of consciousness somewhere between awake and asleep.

The practice of Yoga Nidra has several benefits. It reduces stress and anxiety, improves sleep, increases focus and concentration, and enhances creativity and intuition. It will also help to cultivate a sense of inner peace and calm, and promote a greater connection with your inner self.

Whether you are new to meditation or have an established practice, this class is suitable for all levels. Come and experience the transformative power of these ancient practices. I’d love to see you there!
