St Helier Day Pilgrimage and Picnic

Take part in local history! Embark on a pilgrimage to Elizabeth Castle for a short service at the monastery.
Join in with a fascinating tradition and explore the local history surrounding the island’s patron saint, Saint Helier.
The pilgrimage takes place every year and involves a procession from the Town Church to the Hermitage at Elizabeth Castle where Saint Helier lived and died.
A short Service of Dedication and wreath laying will take place at the Hermitage.
10am – Meet at the Town Church
10.30am – Depart from the Town Church
11.45am – Arrival at the Castle and Service of Dedication
12pm – Explore the Castle or take part in the pilgrimage picnic
We would like to encourage all those taking part in the pilgrimage to bring their own picnic to enjoy at the Castle after the service. Drinks will be provided.
Please note that the causeway will be covered at 3.30pm so please ensure plenty of time for the trip back
Enjoy free access to the castle and bring a picnic to enjoy on the Castle Green. Drinks will be provided by the Parish of St Helier and an orchestra will be providing entertainment!
