🎧 Main Acts 🎧
🔥 ENEI 🔥
🌟 Hailing from St. Petersburg in Russia it was way back in 2003 that a young Alexey Egorchenkov first got the taste for the musical drug Drum & Bass. Like many others before him he became hooked, dabbling with his own production and DJing soon after. Taking the artist name Enei his career began to blossom giving him star status in his beloved Russia and far but it wasn’t until 2007 that things really began to escalate.
During this year Enei earned his first official release on the Dutch label Fokuz but it was the first of many as others began to drop on other imprints such as Blu Saphir, Cyanide and Citrus throughout 2008 and 2009. Whilst his productions and profile began to take shape a certain eagle-eyed label boss, renowned for his supreme A&R’ing, was keeping close tabs on him; it wasn’t long before the phone call was made and Kasra secured the first Enei release for Critical Music at the end of 2010. The rest as they say, is history.
Releasing the Andy C favourite ‘Cracker’, ‘One Chance’ and the much lauded ‘Stone Head EP’, Enei’s Critical discography is relatively short but seeing the sheer talent within Kasra signed him exclusively for the label in 2011. It was Enei’s biggest year and to top it off he came away the ‘Best Newcomer Producer’ accolade at the end of year Drum & Bass Arena Awards.
As we enter 2023 things are only getting better for Russia’s number 1 producer/DJ, his debut album is complete and scheduled for November whilst a slew of remix work continues to pour in. With his music supported by Goldie, London Elektricity, Bailey, DJ Hype, Andy C, Kasra and many more, and an ever increasing DJ’ing schedule, you can guarantee this is merely the start of it as one of the most exciting of the new producers generation in electronic music today continues to make his way.
💥 ENVY 💥
🌟 Inspired by the likes of Alix Perez, Bredren, Calibre and Skeptical, Jean took up the craft of production back in 2016, having started spinning decks at only 13 years of age. In 2019 he then decided to pursue a degree for music production at BIMM in the Drum and Bass mecca Bristol. Precise, dark, mystic but melodic productions await, paired with both, minimalistic and rolling elements, they constitute a sound profile that goes full circle.
It wasn’t long before his early releases on Flexout Audio and Overview Music reeled in breakthrough support from top tier names like Arkaik, Bredren, Fre4knc, Halogenix, IMANU, Noisia, QZB and many others, underpinning En:vy’s challenge on Drum and Bass’s status quo. Thanks to his unique, but decisive style, he has been triggering goose bumps with his tunes ever since. His latest Binary EP released on Critical is just another testament to that. En:vy 22, is far from done.
🌟 Jakes is many things to many people, to some he is the voice of TC’s smash hits ‘Deep’, ‘Drink’ and ‘Mindkiller’, to others he is the Daddy of Bristolian Dubstep crew H.E.N.C.H and to musical historians he is one of the most interesting vocalists that underground British music can lay claim to. Never afraid to break from tradition and roll with his own flow, Jakes’ voice has become one of the most recognizable in the game and his energetic live performances see him traveling across the globe and smacking down raves from Bristol to Boston with his inimitable style.
Within a few years, Jakes has gone from being one of the big name MCs of the drum and bass world to now being one of the most talked about Producers in Dubstep. In a very short space of time, the progression towards his now trademark style has been applauded by many – and not limited to the Dubstep scene.
In 2009, the release of The Jakes Project, which included anthems such as Rock Tha Bells and Warface, demonstrated Jakes’ ability to straddle genres his aptness for innovation and style remaining intact. With his own productions receiving widespread support from as wide-ranging DJs from Skream to Crookers to Mary Anne Hobbs to Gaslamp Killer.
From 2010 thru 2011 Jakes has gone on to produce remixes that have topped download charts and score for films (The Black Swan – Directed by Darren Aronofski) and more recently British film (Offender – Directed by Ron Scalpello). 2012 showed Jakes’ diverse sound with releases on renowned labels such as Tectonic and Slit Jockey to name a few showing his name grow from strength to strength. Jakes regularly receives extensive radio coverage an is in the process of compiling the Next Hench mix tape vol 3.
2023 is set to be jakes’ biggest year. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that his label has a host of talented artists releasing their productions through the HENCH imprint.
