This workshop 90 minute workshop will give an overview of Music Therapy and how it is used to support clients with various challenges
There will be an informal talk with interactive elements, exploring the basics of Music Therapy, the type of work I do and how you go about training to become a Music Therapist. You do not need prior knowledge of Music Therapy beforehand, but if you do, please say as it’s always great to meet fellow enthusiasts.
There will be an opportunity for attendees to engage in some clinical musical improvisation lead by me (a registered Music Therapist) to enhance our understanding of the work. Don’t panic! I know the word improvisation can sound intimidating, but there is no way to get anything “wrong” in clinical improv space. We will work together musically to demonstrate why this is an integral part of Music Therapy and to encourage attendees to explore their own emotions and reactions. Who knows, you may even consider learning more and entering into the field after this!
Please note that this is not a therapy session and every attendee is responsible for their own mental and physical well-being during.
