Forest Therapy & the Arts – exploring landscapes, a sensory immersion

A sensory wellness wander in nature led by Forest Therapy Guide Amanda Bond, exploring the wild side of Jersey

We know that nature is good for us, we feel more vibrant and alive, but did you know that creativity often springs from spending time in nature?

Over the last few years, Amanda has been practising Forest Therapy, guiding and being guided, and is developing her own art practice through inspiration found in nature.

Connect Me is a local government sponsored community programme – in this case offering a series of Forest Therapy walks through the spring guiding participants in sensory nature connection – listening, observing, noticing details, patterns, colour, shapes, textures and just seeing what emerges from the experience.

Maybe you never thought you were artistic, but by being immersed in nature’s creative energy, perhaps an idea will begin to form, take shape…

Below is an image of the beginning stage of creating printed fabric using the bundle-dyeing technique in eco-printing, having gathered the leaves and flowers on a wander beforehand. This activity was directly inspired by the practice of Forest Therapy.
