Change rarely affects everyone in the same way. People bring different views, concerns, interests and experiences. Some voices are heard easily, while others remain beneath the surface. Resistance can grow, and conversations can become difficult.

Co-Resolve is a practical two-day programme for leaders, managers and anyone whose work involves bringing people with them through change.

Drawing on Lewis Deep Democracy, the programme offers practical ways to:

• hear and work with different perspectives
• recognise and work with resistance
• surface what may not be being said
• navigate tension and disagreement
• use conflict constructively
• make decisions that people are more able to support

Where does the approach come from?

Lewis Deep Democracy emerged in post-apartheid South Africa at a time when organisations were facing profound change.

People who had previously been separated were being asked to work together in very different ways. Questions of trust, race, power, anger and fear were present in everyday working relationships and decisions.

Traditional approaches to change were not enough. The work required ways of engaging with what remained unspoken, recognising resistance rather than trying to eliminate it, and creating conditions where every voice could contribute to better decisions.

These ideas developed into Lewis Deep Democracy, an approach now used internationally to help people, teams and organisations work with change, resistance and conflict in a more inclusive and honest way.
